Ceramicist, Michaela Kloeckner, trained under master potter Errol Barnes in 1982, has grown from prolific studio potter to internationally awarded artist. Her acclaimed pieces—ranging from skyline-inspired “Urban Vessels” to China-influenced three-legged forms—blend functional roots with sculptural flair and spirited teaching.

Lauri Anderson is an emerging artist working to make sense of her experiences of life and loss, grief, womanhood and motherhood. Looking artistically through the ever-changing lenses of societal expectations and external gaze projected onto her body and sense of self.

I am a multidisciplinary designer with a particular affinity for ceramics, creating collectable treasures inspired by island living and the quiet beauty of everyday rituals. Working intuitively across materials, I design objects that bring texture, story, and a sense of place into the spaces they inhabit.

I’m a potter and have been working with clay for about 8 years since moving to Straddie. I love creating large, functional ceramics for everyday and entertainment use, focusing mainly on slab building with an informal, imperfect effect. 

I’ve loved Straddie for many, many years and have lived here since 2004. Living on this precious island beside the beautiful ocean is a privilege and a constant inspiration for my pottery and painting - two of my delights.

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of clay. The pieces emerging from these raw source materials and the alchemy of glazing and firing combine in a never-ending learning journey of shapes, textures and hues!

I fell in love with pottery after moving to the island eight years ago and joining our community pottery group.

MERI MILA is the work of local artist Merri, whose art forms include original ceramics, distinctive jewellery, vibrant artwork and textiles. Every item is slowly and consciously created by Merri to express feeling, share stories and inspire whimsy.

I am a ceramicist working with both hand-building and wheel throwing. My work centres on functional forms - pieces made to be used and enjoyed every day - but I like to add a touch of whimsy so that each object carries a sense of personality and play.
