Artist Talks - Nature's Touch: Across Land and Sea
This exhibition highlights the connection between land and sea, and how nature, in all its forms, touches and inspires the artists. It connects the microscopic details of biochrome, the earth’s fragility in ceramics, the underwater beauty in photography, and the rich landscapes in painting, creating a cohesive narrative of nature’s impact.

Long time island resident and artist Jo Fay Duncan is curator of the group exhibition simply entitled "Motherhood Is…”. A very personal story is told by each artist involved in the exhibition at Soul Lodge, Amity Point during this years Straddie Arts Trail.
Works by Raymond Moult-Spiers

Raymond Moult-Spiers was a very prolific painter and followed two streams of work: realistic landscapes and surreal engagement. He lived at Amity Point from the early 1970’s until his death in 1995. He has been described as a colourful character, unique and eccentric.
Works by Ian Quiller Orchardson

Mooloomba (Point Lookout) collection - Ian Quiller Orchardson, ca 1952
Ian Orchardson painted this series of works while he was staying at Pearl and Keith Waller’s Headland Chalet in the 1950s. He gave the works to the Wallers, where they were displayed in the dining room for many years.

We are so very excited to welcome award-winning Torres Strait artist and activist, Alick Tipoti to the 2024 Straddie Arts Trail. He will join us throughout the Trail to work with some of our artists, exhibit his amazing print works, offer valuable insights, and will host a screening of the feature documentary Alick and Albert with cultural exchange.
