NSIGC 2025 Minjerribah Photography Awards
Calling all Photographers - young & old
The annual competition for the NSIGC Minjerribah Photography Awards for 2025, with $2,250 cash prize money, will launch this week and run from September 1st to November 1st 2025.
The awards are held annually to create and spread awareness about the natural beauty and indigenous cultural heritage of Minjerribah, North Stradbroke Island.
In particular, the awards focus on the Island’s bush golf course adjacent to Minjerribah’s sacred Brown Lake (Bummiera) about four kilometres from Dunwich (Goompi).
The competition’s Open Section prize will honour Minjerribah elders and North Stradbroke Island Golf Club founding members, the late Aunty Margaret and Uncle Pat Iselin.
The major Open Section prize is the ‘Aunty Margaret and Uncle Pat Iselin Photography Award ’.
Margaret Iselin was a long-standing chairwoman of the Minjerribah Moorgumpin Elders in Council, and she and her husband Pat were instrumental in opening people’s hearts and eyes to the depth of Aboriginal knowledge and culture in the Island community.

THE NSIGC 2025 photography competition is a wonderful opportunity for photographers of all ages to immerse themselves in the natural bushland beauty of the North Stradbroke Island’s Golf Course.
It’s a chance to stop and wander along the bush pathways, the so-called “yellow brick roads”, that weave their way around the bushland course.
You can walk solo, with friends or family — and you will be filled with awe and wonder about its birdlife; wonder about how birds are so perfectly made, wonder about their stunning habitats and wonder about what we can do to protect them for future generations.
You’ll find species including bee-eaters, masked lap-wing ‘plovers', sea-eagles, a variety of parrots, endangered glossy black cockatoos, and of course, the golf club’s logo — the colourful lorikeets.
If walking is not an option for you, you can take a ride along the pathways by hiring an electric golf-cart from the club-house at a special discount for photography competitors. Two person carts are available for the special price of $20 for up to an hour. And family carts that can take four people, can be hired at an hourly rate of $40. But you must pre-book a cart from the club-house on 3409 9999.
