Drawing from my connection to the natural environment, my creative process for textile design begins with the observation of patterns in the world around us—drawing inspiration from the ever-changing canvas of sand and sea, whether it's the sway of leaves in the trees or the intricate textures of coral reefs.

As a marine scientist, my art, "Island Gyotaku," merges my passion for ocean conservation with the ancient Gyotaku technique. Inspired by Japanese fishermen and European scientists, I create unique impressions of marine species on shoji paper.
