Renata Buziak

iam: a biochrome artist

Renata Buziak is a biochrome artist, researcher, and educator working at the intersection of art and science with a focus on plant life. Her biochrome process merges her passions for nature and photography by blending traditional photographic techniques with organic matter, producing striking visual pieces that enhance well-being.

Renata holds a PhD in Visual Art from Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, where she has also taught. Her doctoral research explored Minjerribaโ€™s healing plants with the Quandamooka community. Recently, she was the inaugural artist-in-residence at Binna Burra Cultural Landscape, focusing on Gondwanan lineage plants.

Renataโ€™s biochromes have been showcased nationally and internationally, received awards, featured on ABC TV Gardening Australia, and are in public and private collections.

โ€˜Held in Blueโ€™ brings together Renata Buziak and Elisa Jane Carmichael in a series of collaborative cyanotype tote bags created especially for the Arts Trail, alongside individual works. In shades of blue, flora and light become vessels for Island stories, held and revealed through cyanotypes and biochromes.
