Alexandra Duffin
iam: a mixed media artist
I am a 22-year-old mixed media artist and current student at the Queensland College of Art, based in Meanjin. My practice explores colour, texture, and botanical forms through a contemporary feminist lens. Rather than depicting coastal landscapes in a traditional sense, I am drawn to the overlooked details—fragments of flora, shifting textures, and intimate moments that reshape how a place can be seen and felt.
With strong personal ties to Minjerribah, where my parents now live, I spend time walking its beaches and bushland, gathering visual inspiration from native plants and organic forms. These elements are reimagined through vibrant, layered compositions that centre the female gaze and challenge conventional representations of both landscape and the body. My work is playful, immersive, and distinctly individual, offering a fresh perspective on familiar environments.
