About
In the back streets of Dunwich, a lost and misguided astronaut stands watch in a blaze of fading orange glory.
During the 2026 Straddie Arts Trail, visitors are invited to witness this unexpected landmark transformed through a live painting collaboration between Quandamooka artists Kieron Anderson and Dean Bingkin Tyson.
Fresh from his Vacant Assembly residency, Kieron continues to build a practice deeply connected to storytelling, identity and place. Working alongside Dean, the pair will breathe new life and ambitions into the astronaut, layering contemporary creativity, culture and conversation onto a familiar local figure.
Thereβs something special about watching art unfold in real time. The conversations, the decisions, the moments of spontaneity and the gradual transformation of a surface into a story.
Drop by, stay a while, and watch as colour, imagination and creative energy reshape this much-loved roadside character.
