The Art of Slow Clothing - Sunday 1st September, 1pm -4pm

$32.00
Sold Out

Withdraw from the fast-fashion spiral which has led Australians to earn the dubious title of world’s largest consumers of clothing. With most fashion items now made of synthetic fibres derived from fossil fuels and shedding microplastic particles into our ecosystem, we value and appreciate existing natural-fibre garments.

Bring along a favourite piece in need of TLC and immerse in the mindful art of stitching, mending and tweaking it for longevity. Your guide in the process is agricultural scientist and author Jane Milburn who was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 2022 for her sharing slow clothing ways to reduce our material footprint.

Details:

  • Workshop will be held on the stage space at Dunwich/Goompi Community Hall. 6 Ballow Road, Dunwich

  • Perfect for people interested in being individual and independent of fast fashion

  • Participants required to bring along an item to work on

  • Children 12yrs and under will need to be supervised by an adult
