Second Sand Studio
iam: Second Sand Studio
Second Sand Studio is a love letter to the artisanal — a curated fashion and lifestyle boutique perched above Mulumba | Point Lookout, the most eastern point of Queensland. Founded by Clare Carroll and Tania Andrews, the studio champions slow craft, natural materials, and the independent makers whose hands shape every piece. It's a place to wander slowly, to try on something you'll treasure, to discover small-batch designers, and to find pieces made with intention.
Our curated collection brings together a thoughtfully selected mix of Australian and international makers:
• Tanora — an independent design studio rooted in two worlds: the ancestral raffia ateliers of Madagascar and the refined aesthetic of contemporary Australia
• Meagan Boyd — limited-edition prints by the Los Angeles–based artist whose paintings are "visual poetry from the ancient future”
• Isabella Longginou — female-founded Brisbane womenswear; playful, bold and elegant pieces with a love of natural fibres and statement colour
• Little Tienda — season-less, slow-made clothing in natural fibres, crafted in collaboration with artisan communities
• The Boy & I — Australian-designed womenswear made in collaboration with skilled Indonesian artisans, in natural fabrics like organic cotton, European linen and silk
• Conscious Curations — preloved Alémais, the Australian label celebrated for its artist collaborations
• Perfect Potion — Australian family-owned aromatherapy pioneer; certified natural and organic preparations, hand-blended in Brisbane since 1991
• Eadie Lifestyle — Australian-designed linen homewares and apparel, crafted by generational artisans and inspired by travel and tradition
• Craft Boat — 100% recycled cotton handmade paper, naturally dyed with botanical extracts like Madder root; over 10,000 tons of textile waste reborn as journals and art papers
• Ruco Paints — rare-pigment watercolours and handmade ceramic palettes, poured in small batches in Brunswick Heads, NSW
• Julie Sisco Photography — fine-art photographic prints by the Minjerribah-based artist, capturing fragments of light, colour and stillness
• Gindi Girl — handmade pendants by Goenpul Nunukul Ngugi maker Elizabeth Borey, crafted with natural materials gathered from Quandamooka country.
Every piece is chosen for its craftsmanship, its materials and the story of the maker behind it — the artisanal hand, natural fibres and conscious sourcing aren't a category for us, they're the whole vision.
During the 2026 Straddie Arts Trail on Minjerribah/Terrangee, the studio becomes a live creative space. Island–based artist Gabriel D'Hage-Craig — whose practice bridges the raw energy of street art and the restless experimentation of digital design — will paint a mural on-site along the trail, giving visitors the chance to watch a large-scale work unfold from a blank wall to a finished piece. Our island photographer, Julie Sisco, will also be here in person to share her work and meet visitors throughout the weekend.
Drop in, slow down, browse the makers, talk to the artists, and watch the whales pass by from the balcony.
