Jo Cochrane

iam: a painter & textile artist

I am an emerging self-taught artist with multiple awards since I first began drawing and painting in 2020. I have developed my artistic practice and technical skill with patience and emotional connection that is obvious throughout my work. My journey from graphite pet portraits to detailed oil paintings has evolved to capture inspiration from Straddie, where I can usually be found walking my dogs on Home Beach.

• Hyper-detailed Pet Pawtraits: my early focus on pet portraits in coloured pencil captured the unique personality of each dog, creating heartfelt, lasting tributes for owners.

• Medium Evolution: Moving from graphite to oils allowed me to paint beautiful botanicals then produce a range of textiles, homewares and clothing featuring my artwork.

• Several commissioned portraits and landscapes were just the stepping stone to my characteristically crisp and hyper-detailed seascapes and landscapes.

• Island Inspiration: Living and working on Straddie provides a dynamic, natural backdrop. The ever-changing scenery around me provides the perfect balance of artistic passion and local inspiration.
