NSIGC 2024 Minjerribah Photography Awards

Calling all Photographers - young & old

The Inaugural NSIGC Minjerribah Photography Awards, with $2,250 cash prize money, will take place from 15 July 2024 to 16 September 2024.

The awards are planned to be an annual competition to create and spread awareness about the natural beauty and indigenous cultural heritage of Minjerribah, North Stradbroke Island. In particular, the awards will focus on the Islandโ€™s bush golf course adjacent to Minjerribahโ€™s sacred Brown Lake (Bummiera) about four kilometres from Dunwich (Goompi).

The competitionโ€™s Open Section prize will honour Minjerribah elders and North Stradbroke Island Golf Club founding members, the late Aunty Margaret and Uncle Pat Iselin.

The major Open Section prize will be the โ€˜Aunty Margaret and Uncle Pat Iselin Photography Award โ€™. Margaret Iselin was a long-standing chairwoman of the Minjerribah Moorgumpin Elders in Council and she and her husband Pat were instrumental in opening peopleโ€™s hearts and eyes to the depth of Aboriginal knowledge and culture in the Island community.
